Con todo mi afecto is a multidisciplinary project that was started during an art-residency program in Mexico City (Québec Studio in Mexico, CALQ) and completed in the summer of 2010. For this project, I built a collection of objects which unique value is sentimental. Following a public call for participation, twenty-four Mexico City residents took part in the project by giving me an object and its story. In exchange, for each participant, I created a work of art. Through this project, I am questioning the notions of value, currency, and attachment/detachment that are inherent in contemporary culture.

The result is a compilation of twenty-four unique objects, taking form of a modern cabinet of curiosities. The first part of the exhibition presents the collection of objects as precious artifacts or valuable works of art, where each object will be framed and lit according to the museum’s aesthetic standards. The accompanied written testimonies will reveal the reasons and the circumstances under which these objects have become so important to the original owners.

Con todo mi afecto is a utopic project that attempts to create a small world where the sole worth of objects is based on their moral and sentimental value. Con todo mi afecto creates a breach, a brief moment outside of our time, where it is possible to envision a society that functions differently.
